WARRENBY GUNDOGS BREED INFORMATION

Golden Retrievers were first developed around 1865 and originate from Scotland. They are a well known gundog breed and a common sight both on the shooting field and in urban environments.

They are an affectionate, versatile and attractive dog and when properly trained are biddable and very loyal. Very sociable towards people. 

A Golden Retriever in good shape is a swift runner and an excellent swimmer and when properly trained they are truly excellent and reliable retrievers from both land and water.  They are intelligent, loyal and affectionate and generally very trustworthy with children. They are a popular choice as 'pet dogs' but if choosing one with a view to working, it is essential to obtain a pup from established and proven working lines. 

There are several excellent working lines in the UK today so purchasers should choose carefully after researching the right line for their intended use.

Early training is recommended. Fully grown, dogs 22 to 24 inches at the withers, bitches 20 to 22.

Colours :- Any shade of gold or cream; red or mahogany are not permissable.
