WARRENBY GUNDOGS BREED INFORMATION

Labrador Retrievers were first developed around the 15th century and originate from 'Newfoundland and Labrador'. They are undoubtedly one of the best known gundog breeds and a common sight both on the shooting field and in urban environments. It is the most popular breed of dog by registered ownership in the world.

They are a versatile and attractive dog and when properly trained are biddable and very loyal. As one of the most prolific 'gundogs', enormous variance can be found in type and temperament.

A Labrador Retriever in good shape is a swift runner and an excellent swimmer and when properly trained they are truly excellent and reliable retrievers from both land and water. They are intelligent, loyal and affectionate and generally very trustworthy with children. They are a popular choice as 'pet dogs' but if choosing one with a view to working, it is essential to obtain a pup from established and proven working lines.

There are many excellent working lines in the UK today so purchasers should choose carefully after researching the right line for their intended use. Early training is recommended.

Fully grown, dogs 22 to 22 1/2 inches at the withers, bitches 21 1/2 to 22 inches.

Colours :- Black; Yellow ( anything from light cream through gold to Fox red ); Chocolate ( can be medium to dark brown ).
