WARRENBY GUNDOGS BREED INFORMATION
Large Munsterlanders are another dog developed in Germany in the early 1900's and are well thought of but a relatively rare type of HPR ( Hunt, Point and Retrieve ).
They are a large dog with a long coat and at one point were known as German Longhaired Pointers but have since developed into a separate breed. When properly trained they are biddable and very loyal.
They have a large amount of energy and a love of water so can be a challenging dog to keep clean given the length of their coat. Affectionate towards their owners and families, as with all intelligent dogs of large size, they need focus and attention. They were designed with dense woodland in mind and can work all day if required.
A good family dog as long as they are exercised ( a lot ), able to run and given mental stimulation.
They are not a common dog and so purchasers should expect to wait some time for the right dog to become available.
Early training is essential as they develop into large dogs. Fully grown, dogs 60 to 65 cm at the withers, bitches 58 to 63cm. Dogs approximately 30 kg.
Colour :- Black and white, patches, ticks or roan.
