WARRENBY GUNDOGS BREED INFORMATION

English Springer Spaniels are a popular dog in gundog circles and equally so with pet owners. A larger dog than the cocker, active and intelligent with a love of water. It is important to distinguish between working and show types...they are two very divergent types. Biddable loyal and keen to work, mental stimulation and exercise are an absolute must or they will amuse themselves. Although Spaniels have existed for centuries, the differentiation into the breeds we see today did not begin until the mid 1800's. Willingness to enter water and ability to work cover being two of their best traits. Occasionally stubborn but generally easy to train.

They can adapt to compact, urban environments but the need for stimulation is very important.

Pups abound, so purchasers should ensure they are buying the right type for them i.e. working or show.

The owners club can assist with the details of reputable breeders. This breed is commonly docked for working purposes.

Fully grown, dogs 20 inches at the withers, bitches 17 to 19 inches.

Colours :- Black or Liver with White markings or predominantly white with black or liver markings; Blue or Liver Roan; Tri colour, black and white or liver and white with tan markings. Any white portion of the coat may be flecked with ticking.
